Case study · Networks & Wi-Fi

One router in the corner. Two access points later, the whole house.

A single-story home in the Nocatee area. These are the real images from the job: the floor plan, the before heatmap, the plan and the result.

Nocatee area (the home stays anonymous)

Single story: living room, kitchen, dining, four bedrooms, two baths
The problem
One router in the front corner; weak signal in the back bedrooms and baths
The fix
Two access points, placed on the floor plan before anything was mounted

01 · The floor plan

Start with the house, not the router

Accurate rooms and walls come first. Where people sit, what the walls are made of and where the internet line comes in decide everything after.

02 · Before

Where the old router reached

One router sat in the front corner of the living room. Near it, the signal was strong. By the back bedrooms and baths it fell into yellow and red.

Before: Wi-Fi heatmap of the Nocatee-area home, from the original single router in the front corner. Green near the router fades to yellow and red across the back bedrooms and baths.
Before: the original router at top left. Green is strong; yellow, red and pink are weaker.

03 · The plan

Two access points, placed on paper first

Instead of a bigger router, two access points: one near the kitchen for the front of the house, one in the central hall for the bedrooms.

Each view highlights one access point's coverage, so you can see how they share the house.

04 · After

Green through nearly every room

With both access points in place, the house is green almost everywhere, with small yellow edges in a few corners.

After: three-dimensional heatmap of the Nocatee-area home with both access points. Nearly every room is green, with small yellow edges in a few corners.

Have a home like this one?

Plenty of homes here share this story: a router where the line comes in, and rooms it never reaches. Let's look at yours.
